Waterloo refought 2: Tony Bath

Another Don Featherstone photograph, again undated, and captioned "Wellington and Napoleon at the start of a reconstructed Battle of Waterloo".Napoleon is Tony Bath, while not only has the photograph cut off the top of Wellington's head, I can't read his badge either. If anyone knows when and where this was, and who was Wellington, please comment.

Good to see wargaming in ties, though Tony Bath has sensibly tucked his in with a cardigan to avoid any unintended trooop movements.

Don't think I've ever seen a picture of Tony Bath where he's not wearing that cardigan!

One wonders if this was the re-fight that your previous post made reference to??

Ties always add a sense of occasion. I suspect the cardigan probably has something to do with the temperature of the church hall. I can't imagine it was cosy.

That was the refight of Waterloo at the Duke of York's Headquarters in Chelsea, 1965.

Don't recognise the Duke though...

...on reflection, is the 'Duke' Mr Featherstone himself - but taken from a rather unflattering angle?

Wellington isn't Eric Knowles, by any chance? I have no idea what Mr Knowles looks like, but recall reading that he was one of the principle participants in 1965 (and, naturally, I can't find the reference).

Ties certainly add a touch of pleasing formality, and it helps to reinforce the idea that, if by any chance this is a game for small boys, then this lot of small boys are gentlemen, so everybody had better keep quiet about it. There is also a period touch there. I recall that dear old Peter Gouldesbrough always wore a tie when wargaming, but I suspect that Peter probably wore a tie in the bath.
