I have no idea what Mr Knowles looks like, but recall reading that he was one of the principle participants in 1965 (and, naturally, I can't find the reference).

Ties certainly add a touch of pleasing formality, and it helps to reinforce the idea that, if by any chance this is a game for small boys, then this lot of small boys are gentlemen, so everybody had better keep quiet about it. There is also a period touch there. I recall that dear old Peter Gouldesbrough always wore a tie when wargaming, but I suspect that Peter probably wore a tie in the bath.

TonyMSFoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14470241067504971068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3399255049115922694.post-57914656494931460192011-01-17T22:23:56.283+00:002011-01-17T22:23:56.283+00:00...on reflection, is the 'Duke' Mr Feather......on reflection, is the 'Duke' Mr Featherstone himself - but taken from a rather unflattering angle?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3399255049115922694.post-77287168157510581042011-01-17T22:06:19.908+00:002011-01-17T22:06:19.908+00:00That was the refight of Waterloo at the Duke of Yo...That was the refight of Waterloo at the Duke of York's Headquarters in Chelsea, 1965.

Don't recognise the Duke though...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3399255049115922694.post-13328464131997937272011-01-16T14:52:13.464+00:002011-01-16T14:52:13.464+00:00Ties always add a sense of occasion.
